A pair of radio DJs have taken up the cause of a Clinton family
fighting to keep their deluxe treehouse.
City leaders told the Welch family last year that their tree house
violates a city ordinance against "auxilliary structures" in the yard.
Today Nick and E.J. from Y101 radio held a radio-thon to raise
money for the family's legal bills.
The DJs say they're inspired by the family building the treehouse
for their kids, but being willing to share it with the entire
neighborhood.
"I think it's the right time to stand up for something when you
have kids involved, and you want to teach them what living a good
life, maybe even the Old-Fashioned Way, is really like," says DJ
E.J. Rivers.
The Welch's argued their case for letting the treehouse stay
earlier this week in Hinds County Court. The judge said she expects to
rule by Monday.
